A family member is shopping got card today and has spotted the following:

    2014 C5 1.6 HDI, awaiting price
    2013 Superb Elegance 1.6 TDI €20k
    2013 Avensis 2.0D Terra €15k

Mileage on all cars is low and all are coming from main dealers.

I've also recommended he look at an Insignia.

My advice was the Superb but as nice as it was he found it slow. He felt the Avensis was the go forever but blandest car. He loves the look and comfort of the C5.

I'm in full agreement on the C5 but felt it had the biggest potential to go wrong. Having said that if the price is right.......

Do any owners have feedback on these cars?

The Terra spec Avensis is terrible, it also feels cheaply produced which would rule it out for me.

Superb is an ugly car in saloon/hatch form imo, I also couldn't live with the frustration of the 1.6 diesel on a daily basis either. The 2.0 litre is a much better car to drive on daily basis.

The C5 is a good car and despite the general perception out there of it being French I could not see any less reliable than a Superb. However I would not pay €20k for one as they depreciate heavily, good value at close to have that amount though imo.

Other cars I would look at are these:

Peugeot 508 - pretty much the same car as the C5.

    Hyundai i40:

He took my advice and just bought an Insignia SE 2L diesel with very low miles.

Sorry about the thread I really wasn't expecting him to make any decisions so quick!
