New album coming in a couple of weeks. I've been an on and off fan for the past 20 years or so (more off for the last few albums) but I really like the sound of the Still Hurts so I'm actually really looking forward to hearing this album.

Been a fan for many years, though I didn't bother with the last album. My problem with latter day T? is the riffs are becoming more and more generic, and that song hasn't changed that opinion. Still it's not bad and the video is class actually.

I didn't buy the last album, I thought Crooked Timber was pretty good though. The drummers snare sound really grates on me. It's way up there and sounds boxy. There's no body to it.

Fantastic live act, with a plethora of tunes to back them up.

    "each year it gets worse..."

    yep.

some honesty from the boys anyway

Long time fan, I'll buy it anyway. I've heard a few of the tunes live and they've gone for a more straight forward punky sound this time around. The last two albums ("A brief crack of light" and "Crooked Timber") were more experimental and harder to get into. I can see this one appealing more to a wider base.

The riff on "Vulgar Display of Powder" is excellent. Hopefully the rest of the album will have some solid tunes.

I haven´t listened to them much in recent years. I loved their earlier stuff. I think I went off them after that album with the song "Diane" though....

I agree regarding generic riffs in the above song though. the song has potential but the guitar playing is terribly boring

Ashamed to say that I'm only giving the album "Shameless" a whirl now. That fly under the radar for me. It should of been a huge album for them, very accomplished album from start to finish. Easily there best album by a country mile.

The record that divides Therapy fans the most is probably "Shameless" - a big garage rock record produced by Jack Endino. Sounds great but the songs are a little off-kilter and weird owing much to the growing influence of Graham Hopkins & Martin McCarrick, both of whom were gone not too long following this release.

My favourite of theirs is "Suicide Pact - You First"; low-fi perfection.

I liked both Shameless & SP: You First but of the later day albums High Anxiety is easily my fave.

Couldn't really get into last 2 albums either but just gave the new one a spin and seems more accessible from the off, the second half of the album appears stronger but as I've only gave it the one listen might not be the case, will be blasted a few more times this week I reckon :)

Gave it a spin this morning on the way in, I too thought the 2nd half material was stronger. The end track Deathstimate, the riff is very unlike Therapy? It's an evil tune. Hopefully we get a Dublin date soon.

I see they are touring in March and April so they will surely stick on a few Irish dates, would love if they did a full Irish tour like The Darkness and not the usual Dublin and Belfast gigs. Unreal live band, saw them many times. Sir Henrys gig many moons ago when they were touring Semi-Detached was amazing. Full on all the way. Had Graham Hopkins on drums and Matin McCarrick on Cello. Tightrope Walker was a great song from that album.

Still haven't heard Opal Mantra live yet, here's hoping this time.

They played in Cork not too long ago. A year or two perhaps?

They released a live album a few years ago too, supposed to be decent. It's on spotify.

It's pretty good actually. The main songs that really stand out for me are Still Hurts, Tides, Good News Is No News, Helpless Still Lost, Vulgar Display of Powder, Torment Sorrow Misery Strife and Deathstimate.

Is it in shops yet or has everyone got it online?

It came out on Friday. I'm in Dublin and tried HMV on Grafton Street and yer man behind the counter hadn't heard of it and claimed it wasn't on their system. For a laugh I had a look in Golden Discs but of course it wasn't there. Tower Records did have it but they were charging €16.99 for it which is a crazy price for a CD these days so I bought it online in the end.

Oh cool cheers for that. I was wondering alright. I asked in my local HMV and same story. Official site though it works out at around 19 euro, something similar for amazon? Couldn't find any other online retailer listing it?

I got it from one of Amazon's marketplace sellers. Worked out at around €13

They were charging €27 for the new edition of The Answer's new CD - rip off merchants - know idea how they are still open charging such ridiculous prices.

Tower Records always seem to be a euro or two dearer than other stores for CDs. So unless it's something unusual that you can't get elsewhere, i can't see any reason for shopping there.

Have to say. Loving this album. Can't wait for the Dublin gig...

Kind of boring by comparison to Crooked Timber and A Brief Crack of Light. Was looking forward to the conclusion of that whole direction, and don't see what's to be gained by going over old territory.

I'd have paid that for CT or ABCOL, or maybe for the (now cancelled?) Suicide Pact - You First reissue.

    Not Disquiet.

I'll never understand why bands play an album in its entirety, when did it suddenly become fashionable?

    There's no surprise factor.

It's a way of increasing ticket sales I suppose. People going for nostalgia reasons who probably wouldn't go see the band otherwise.

Not sure Fear Factory are in the city(Academy) also tonight playing "Demanufacture" in full too.

I guess it may resume interest in some bands on occasion that their modern output hasn't delivered, it also guarantees tracks in the set that would never usually get an outing in a standard set.

As Therapy? are one of those bands that seem to escape me they always seem to play dates I can't make even this time if it wasn't for the extra show tonight I couldn't make tomorrow...a standard set would have probably suited better but enjoy Infernal Love so not going to complain at all.

Will be heading to tomorrow's show, can't make tonight due to work.

The idea of playing albums in their entirety, for Therapy? at least, is because of the Sonisphere festival promoter. Back in 2010 they were added to the bill on the prevision that they play Troublegum. So they agreed. It went well so they did a tour of it. Then in 2014, the promoter again added them to Sonisphere if they played Infernal Love. Hence, this tour.

It seems a little strange as Cairns has often spoken of it as a nightmare to record due to external pressures and his own personal problems at the time. Added to the fact that cellist/guitarist Martin McCarrick, not to mention Fyfe, is no longer in the band, it's gonna sound a fair bit different to the album itself. At Sonisphere, Andy played keyboards on Bowels of Love for instance, to replace the cello.

They said they'll play a few tracks off Disquiet too - probably Still Hurts, Tides, Idiot Cousin and Deathstimate. I hope they give Troublegum a rest tonight as well; play Screamager & Nowhere if they have to, but please no Isolation, Die Laughing, Knives etc for the love of god!

Here's hoping for a "Suicide Pact" invite to the next Sonisphere so!

With more money in touring, it's an excuse for bands to tour more often.
