Hi, Looking for opinions. I can get 3 vokey wedges 52, 56 and 60 degree at a really great price. That will leave me with 15 clubs though so will i just leave out the sw from my iron set? Might seem like a stupid question but just unsure of whether to buy the three or just 1/2 ?

Just leave out sw as you are replacing it with the 56

I just bought 3 wedges myself. A 50*, 54* and 58*. To facilitate this, I have dropped my 60* wedge which I was using as my sandwedge. So you could do the same. Just use your 56/60 as your new sandwedge :)

But dont throw away your old sandwedge, just incase you dont like the new one ;)

I'd buy the three if they're coming at the right price. Throw out the sand wedge, use the 56/60 as needs be.

I've seen lads shave down the back of sand wedges to make them double up as lob and sand. Dunno if it's advisable though.

    I think shauna

There is a little more involved.

You would have to consider bounce of 56.

The more wedges the better imo.

Find a lake for some of the longer irons ;)

More important what irons yours using to make sure you have the right loft gapping.

If your PW is a 46° then a 50/54/58 set up would be better etc

    I use 4 wedges, 46, 51, 56 & 60 And they all get used!

I have my 54 and PW. That's it, makes decision making easier for me!

I use a PM, Approach Wedge and SW all G20's, original 56 SW bent to 53, then I have 56/64 vokeys, reason is I find myself short of long par 4's/5's a lot so need lots of options from ~105y and in.

I'd go for all 3 if you feel you're getting a good price, if it's from a shop get them to check loft and lie before you buy!

In my new set I dropped my 5w in favour of a 60 degree wedge with 4 bounce.

I spent some time on a launch montitor and my 5w and 18 degree rescue were only 5 yards apart.

I seem to drop more shots in approach play so hopefully the extra option will help.

On a side note I could not believe the spin on the new wedges, I guess the 3 year old ones must have lost some of the zip from their grooves.

I use PW, GW and SW. The lofts are 45, 50 and 55. The 55 works fine for me. If i need to flop a shot i open the face a little. I used to carry a 60 but used it so little it seemed like a waste of time having it in the bag. I know other guys who love the 60 though.

Its probably a good idea to get the 3 wedges and drop your set SW.

I have pw, gw, sw and LW at 45, 50, 55 and 60. As others have said its all about gapping really.

As for bounce that's almost a personal preference. For example I used to have a LW with 4 degrees of bounce and couldn't use it. Got one with 12 and love it.

Probably depends where you play too.

I swap out my sand wedge for a low bounce 56 degree wedge when I play my local links (deep ball magnet bunkers with compacted sand), but bring the sand wedge for parkland.

Hi guys, got my wedges last week and they look class but I have one problem and i'm looking for ye're advise.

While playing in naas on saturday i hit an awful lot of bad chips. Suffered with horrible short game before so I headed off to practise area this morning with me 3 new wedges and started practising the drills i got off pro before. Any way to make a long story short it all started to click again and i figured out what i was doing wrong. Was using phone camera cause i find that the easiest ways to spot my mistakes and i noticed that on a couple of chips, everything looked good i.e swing, stance contact etc but ball strike was poor. After looking at video very closely i feel like due to the clubs being regular mens when i stand over ball with hands lowerer than normal (cause i'm shorter than most men) the lie of the club is affected and heel is hitting ground first, causing face to react.

Anyway what i was wondering is, is it as simple as just cutting down shaft say 1 inch to fix lie or will pro have to manipulate it? Sorry if that was very long winded

Only thing with cutting down a club is it will affect the weight. Having said that if you are not taking full swings with wedges it may not have much of an affect.

It may be possible to get the lies adjusted but cutting them may help too as they may be too long for you (or feel too long at least)

Best bet is go to a pro you'd trust. If you need one in Cork let me know

Where you not fitted when you were buying the wedges? Surely this would of been addressed, I personal wouldn't buy anything without a fitting. Even a few minutes on the stores trackman or what ever they have.

No I got the wedges privately and assumed if anything needed to be done with them a pro would manage it...

If they are mens wedges how are you not finding the grip too thick? Wedges are easy to bend so you should be fine getting the lie changed just grip down on them rather than getting them cut.

Collecting my new wedges on Friday coming, 50 and 60 degree Ping Glide. Did not see many reviews on them but they just felt nice in the shop (albeit right handed). Unfortunately being left handed meant I had to order in but got the call that they have arrived. Really hope they will get me to the next level. I will wait and see how these go and based on performance might swap my standard Taylormade Burner sand iron for the Ping Glide 55 degree as it maybe would make sense (as opposed to cents). Might be best to have all wedges the same. Got a cut yesterday to 9.2 which is my lowest yet (really down to better putting) but really hoping to maintain that and possibly push on with some effort on the short game.

Got 3 Glides recently 50, 54, 58, got fitted by Ping in Cork. Happy enough with them so far, have them in play about 3 wks. I like the feel of them, the length of mine (1/2" longer than standard) and they sit down beautifully. I'm finding it hard to judge when will they check and when they won't, which is done to my technique, but am getting a lot more check than I ever got with my Vokeys. I don't have the confidence that I had with my old wedges yet but I guess that will come.
