My first kydex sheath

I recently moved to Deutschland where it is legal to carry a fixed blade up to 14cm in length which to me seems a bit over the top. One handed opening folding knives are forbidden to carry which is also hilarious to me. How-never i have a nice little fallknevin wm1 which i use as a general utility knife for edc etc... Anyways i decided to have a go at making myself an IWB sheath as i have not seen too many and i rather not draw attention to myself when out and about. I don't have many tools at the moment so it was challenging and didn't come out perfect in terms of how it looks it could be a little better. Knife retention is great and it works as i wanted it to so all in all i am pleased and looking forward to making a few more. All that was used was the kitchen oven, hacksaw, 5mm drill bit, Chicago screws, an IWB strap and a sheet of sandpaper. lool. The other blank in the picture is my next little project, i luckily came across 1 Meter of 80CrV2 for €12 so i couldnt say no. I have a filing jig made and ready to go just need to find the time to start.

Excellent job, what did you use for a kydex press?

I have a Falkie F2Z that could use something better than the boxy plastic sheath supplied by the maker.

you should be able to make one quite handily, all you need is some foam, the cheapest sleeping roll you can find, glue that to some plywood and use clamps or a vice to provide the pressure.

As said you just need some thick foam about 5cm thick. then just make a press. I was a bit impatient and just wanted to have a crack at it when my stuff arrived so i didnt make a press as i was already in the middle of building a filing jig for making some knives. So i just got two of my pieces of foam and two sheets of plywood and sandwiched my kydex between them as you would with with press and sat on it while doing some reading for about 15 mins. It worked, lmao. I will build a press this week i just was short on time.

i have an old Japanese K-Bar style knife i inherited from my older brother its from the 80's and it has a leather sheath that is the worse for wear and i was wondering is there anywhere in Dublin sells Kydex Kits or makes kydex sheaths for a reasonable price as i also need to get a wet stone to sharpen it and its as blunt as a butter knife.

    thanks in advance.

Look up Kydex Ireland on Facebook. He's making sheaths and cheek risers and he's based in dublin I think
