If any law experts could advise I would be really grateful. We are about to close on the purchase of a house. We received a gift of money from my partners parents who live in France. Our solicitor is insisting they sign the deed of confirmation in Ireland in the presence of an Irish solicitor. Is it not possible for them to sign in France? they are elderly and we do not want to burden them with travel after they generously gifted us money. Our broker said there is no precedent for this, as she has had clients who had deeds of confirmation signed in country of donor.

    Mod:

You are right to look for a second opinion in the face of such expense and inconvenience but legal advice cannot be given here.

This thread will have to be closed.

I would suggest that you should find a practical solicitor to represent and advise your parents, in this regard.
