    Hi all.
I just bought one of these panel filters on eBay from a British company.
    It's for my 04 is200.
It seems to be very excessively oiled out of the box but the company says this is normal.
I'm a bit reluctant to place this in my airbox as I'm afraid of the oil getting into my engine internals and causing problems with my map sensor.
Anyone any recomendations, my paper filter was only changed 5000 miles ago and is pretty dirty already....

    Go with the company recommendation.

Almost all K&N air filters come pre-oiled and ready to use.

How oily is it exactly, it's not dripping or anything yeah?

Used em for years. No problem. The oil is to catch the smaller dust particles.

When the filter is fitted correctly in the airbox the filter oil will be on side facing away from the engine. The oil cannot get through the gauze mesh.

Not dripping off or anything but the plastic the filter comes in was dripping wet on the inside and the filter itself has a light coating all over it.

It's a dog leg shaped filter so only one way it can go in.

Have the same one for years, put it in straight out of the box, cleaned and oiled it once, no problems with it ever.

Ok. I wiped a little bit off the surrounding rubber and fitted it in. Didn't touch the actual filter.
Just resetting the ecu now. I'm hoping to see a slight improvement in mpg although not expecting much in the way of performance. Hopefully a bit more growl as well. :)
