Actor Harrison Ford was seriously injured Thursday when a vintage World War II training plane he was piloting crash landed on a Mar Vista, California, golf course.

The actor was stabilized and taken to a local hospital. Sources said he sustained cuts to head. There was no word on other injuries or what caused the plane to crash. It appeared he was flying solo.

There was 2 doctors playing golf on the course he landed on and tended to him straight away, very lucky indeed!

Just listened to his communications with ATC. He had an engine failure and requested immediate return to land. Obviously he couldn't make it back to the runway but was able to glide down to a golf course.

One witness described the seeing the accident as a "nose dive straight on the 8th hole tee box." Obviously it was a fairly rough landing but it doesn't look like it was too bad.

    Hopefully he's alright.

Looks like he did very well to put it down where he did and to survive with what appears to be relatively minor injuries.

There really is absolutely nowhere else to put down if anything happens in that area.

In fairness, he did the Kessel Run in under five parsecs.

Forgive my ignorance but what is a parsec? Or a Kessel run?!

A StarWars blooper. Lucas used the parsec as a unit of time, whereas in fact it is a unit of interstellar distance.

Glad to read that Solo/Jones appears to have escaped with bumps and bruises.

Feck it. Leave her where she lies. Treat it as a hazard.

    Cockpits are amazingly durable.
It is a right of passage for a private pilot to survive crashes - happens more often than not.

I hear the golf club are considering banning him as he didn't shout "four" before landing.

    I'll get my coat.

He already survived a previous helicopter crash.

Turns out he is a big aviation nut. And it seems he actually does mountain search and rescue with his helicopter on a volunteer basis!

Can this guy be any more badass!

Doing a 180 which I suspect after EFATO lucky to get away with it not that he had much option looking at Google maps. Beautiful airplane which will hopefully fly again along with HF.

I remember seeing a show he done a few years ago all about his love for aviation. Was really good.
Hopefully it'll pop up again somewhere after this :D.
