Incorrect gear ratio

    Hi,

    I own a 2003 Honda Civic coupe automatic. Today i had problems with it and it needed to be towed to my mechanic, he plugged in the computer and it said incorrect gear ratio, I've googled this and it seems like the transmission will need to be replaced... I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge on the likelihood of this and what sort of cost is involved if this is the case.. I'm so disappointed as i love this car... thanks

    Bring it to a gearbox specialist rather than a garage.
    A lot of automatics have never had their transmission fluid replaced, which can throw up all sorts of symptoms.

    yes that is the plan, my mechanic said he will locate a gearbox specialist and send it there... if you have any recommendations pm me please.. the gearbox fluid was replaced about 10k ago and believe it or not i was due to get it serviced this saturday...

    Get it going again and sell it
    Only decent honda automatic is the accord petrol from 02 onwards with the tiptronic in it
    Most autos are absolute rubbish, mitsubishi probably being the worst Japanese ones
