European films made by Hollywood blacklist?

    Hi,

Can anyone give me some examples of significant European films directed by filmmakers who were blacklisted in the 1950s?

One example that comes to mind is Jules Dassin's Rififi (1955). Dassin was an American director who moved to Europe after the blacklist.

Can anyone give me other examples, specifically films not made in English?

The most notable figure is probably Joseph Losey who made a run of top class films in collaboration (!) with Harold Pinter

    The Servant (1963),
    Accident (1967)
    The Go-Between (1971)

other films include Figures in a Landscape, The Assassination of Trotsky, Galileo, The Romantic Englishwoman (his last good really film) plus the whacked out spy parody Modesty Blaise

John Berry made films in France - Ça va barder and Je suis un sentimenta

Always important to provide education even in simplistic format.
