    I'm thinking of buying a 2005 Mercedes c class 180 kompressor, it's automatic triptonic,
Did a back ground check on both the dealer and the car itself apart from the car being originally English it's all good.
so my question is any previous owners have any advice for me what to look out for? Any problems so on so on?
    thanks

Those Kompressor engines are known to suffer from timing chain stretching.

via the chassis number you can assertain which plant built it. For some reason a lot of the cars from the plant in South Africa had terrible corrosion protection, mainly around the bottom of the doors, sills and boot. It was for more aparrent in the E class but the C class had it too. Opej the doors and check the very bottom for rust and bubbling.

What mileage is on it and does it have any service history ? As bazz26 says the chain is a single chain on these M271 engine and the basically stretch, but also if incorrect oil is used they wear prematurely and wear the cam sprockets in the proccess. The next thing that happens is you start the car some morning, the chain skips a tooth and you completely destroy your engine.

So........if you are buying from a dealer ask about warranty and history and if the chain was done. If buying privately and there is no history then budget €600 to have the chain and tensioner replaced.

Also probably an obvious one but check for any whining coming from the compressor and ask if it has ever been changed , on that mileage i'd be worried about needing to replace it if it's the original one.
