Golf MK4 - Washer hose in boot - Where does it connect?

    Hi Folks

Recently sold my 02 TDI A4....loved it but costing too much to repair to pass NCT.

Got a MK IV golf that has Tax & NCT, running perfect, just what I need when I'm broke :)

Anyway, there were a few small things that needed doing on the Golf, which I've done, except one last thing, might not be a big deal but I've never had a car that was 100% perfect, with everything working as it should, down to the small minor details so I'm taking this as a personal challenge.
I am by no means a mechanic or even amateur, but am really enjoying it so far, lots of help online....its addictive, I want to keep replacing stuff for the fun of it.

The last thing is the rear windscreen washer. I thought the nozzle was corroded/blocked, used vinegar, then industrial limescale remover (worked for me before), no joy. Looked online saw common fault was it unplugs from water hose.
Took the boot lining off, wet inside, it was indeed disconnected. Reconnected, still no joy, still leaking.
Removed the motor, took that apart, cleaned each pipe in the motor, which was blocked, got a new nozzle, put it all back on, tested, still leaked.

I've now narrowed it down to where the motor / pump and the hose meet, right at the motor. The hose is slightly cracked. Tried taping it up, doesn't really work.

So now, I've found a few cars for breaking, going to get a new hose. But my question is:
Where does it lead to in the boot, so it starts off from the motor on the boot lid, are there any other joints in the boot or near the boot that I can disconnect and just replace that section - Or does it run all the way to the reservoir in the engine ?

Obviously if I replace it all, it will definitely be fixed and work for a while, but don't want to replace the whole thing - that's too big for me. Also don't want to just snip the end off and replace that, I'm not a plumber either so it would just be duct tape job :P which isn't going to cut it.

Any advise or diagrams welcome, if you can tell me where it connects in the boot or if it runs straight to the engine so I can give up.

    Cheers

    Hi,
From memory there is a join in this hose, it is in the C pillar either half half way up the pillar or right at the top. If you remove the trim you will see it easily enough.
    hope this helps

Cool, thanks - The C pillar is the right pillar?, so it would be behind the plastic there, yea? Not the boot cover but actually the horizontal part to the right?

    Like the one here:

I see some other pages when I google it to be careful as may activate airbags? Presume there are none behind this pillar?

yeah, that is the C pillar in the link you have posted,
As far as I am aware there are no wiring for airbags in this area, but as always with DIY proceed with caution!!!

I am pretty sure there is a thread on this in the Mk IV forums if you are unsure how to proceed it might be worth having a search.

    best of luck

I could be wrong but i think your problem is in the motor.
When you turn on your rear wiper does the nozzle turn with the wiper.
it shouldnt . The nozzle should stay stationary and the wiper turns around it.
There is a pipe for the washer running through the motor with seals either end holding out water and holding in grease, over time this pipe will seize to the shaft of the wiper arm ans the metal pipe will shear.
common problem. Mine did look as it was coming out of the corner of the hose when it went
