kitchen worktops and glass splashbacks

Want to revamp my kitchen. The cupboards are solid oak and in good condition so want to revamp kitchen by replacing the worktop. I have seen one called Maia- cappacino in colour which is a composite shiny surface. I just wondered if this glossy surface would look out of place with the oak kitchen. It is normally advertised along with the new glossy kitchens. Also would like a glass splashback instead of tiles. Again would this look out of place with the oak kitchen. Any advice much appreciated.
