    Hi
Just a word of warning to people buying a second hand car and using cartell. In November 2013 I bought a used car from a garage in Dublin. I was provided with a copy of the cartell report with the car which had 128000km
on the clock. Last month I brought the car to a main dealer to get a part repaired under warranty. The dealer told me this part had already been done at 188000km.my car had 142000km on the clock. Thinking the garage had forged the cartell report is done a independent check.the new cartell check showed no discrepancie with the millage. I am now chasing the garage for my money back.

Do you mind me asking what garage it was? I've recently heard of a lot of garages selling clocked cars and they are well aware of it too.
Guards should definitely be contacted too.

Pretty obvious that you'd do your own checks?

Its not that I don't sympathise with you, just wouldn't trust a pre-printed report.

The rule of thumb is always do your own checks.

Sorry if my post is not clear. I done my own check aswell as garage doing a check.my point is the cartell check i done said that there is no discrepancie with the millage. People are paying this company good money for peace of mind when buying a car and there reports are not at all accurate. As for the garage they have assured me i will get a full refund, so I would like to give them a chance before naming and going to the guards.

It sounds like someone bluffed cartell, they are only passing on information to you for a fee that has been given to them by third parties. I don't think cartell have much blame to take here.

It does rely on the mileage being recorded in a garage. Was it a UK import? They actually have a better system of it being logged during their MOT. I don't think it gets the recorded mileages from the NCT, so it's a bit ****e. I think there is a new thing in the NCT where it will show previous miles?

Can you post up the cartell report, with identifying details removed?

They can't name the garage if they don't have proof the garage clocked it. But sure, condemn them because they provided the same information that the OP got from Cartell.

What tale of woe? I am posting here to warn people, not to depend on a cartell check, when they buy a car.it might be your style to go on a public forum and name the garage without any proof that they done anything wrong, but it's not mine.people in business find it hard enough to make a living, without people like you.the sales man has assured me they are not responsible and that I will be refunded in full.if he falls through on his promise, then I will name the garage

NCT currently shows the last mileage it was on a previous year... I think they store up to 3 NCT's...

I put the car through its first nct, so no luck there. The car was serviced numerous times by main dealer so why did cartell not pick up on this

Does the service history record the mileages and dates of the services? Or was it "missing"?

Service book only has earlier services stamped from other garages
