Can anyone tell me what Gillead in Carrigtwohill is like to work in?
I am contractor engineer thinking of applying for work there.
I have heard mixed reviews from it.

    Thanks
    John

I know a few people that work there at the moment. Their feeling of the place can be summed up in the following .

    1. All say it is a good place to work, the facilities and canteen are good and most of the management are grand.

    2. Universally every person i know who has worked there said you will be worked hard, there will be extra hours required of you (with no extra pay). However if you work in gilead for a few years and are successful there you will have a good shot at getting in to any of the other pharama plants in Cork.

    3. Pretty much everyone new is on contract (unless your going for a senior position) however if you last 12 months or more they do generally try to make people permament if they can within the following 12 months, assuming you are getting on well down there.

    4. Money is pretty standard for the industry, there are some pharma companies paying more but you need alot of experience to get in there or get lucky.

To sum it up, you are expected to work hard, but you will be treated fair. In my opinion its a grand place to work, i would have no qualms about going for a job there. Judging by your user name you are probably in the same industry as myself so as i said i would have no problems going for a job there.
