I need a bit of advise here, I am a warehouse worker for a private company so I am wondering if I am entitled to this relief.
Also, my partner is a researcher in a third level institution so not sure if we would be entitled to this through them as well.
    Advise welcome! Thank you.

Anyone know when these flat rate expenses were last adjusted for inflation etc?

As it says in the notes: "The amount of the deduction is agreed between Revenue and representatives of groups or classes of employees (usually the employees are represented by trade union officials)."

So you need to get your unions on the job.

There is only one way to go about this , and that is to claim flat-rate expenses .

Just because your occupation is not on the list does not mean you are not entitled to it .

There is a category in there for general operatives , and the amount claimable is €97 .

So what you need to do is outline in writing , the expenses that are incurred in the duties of your empoloyment , and directly related to you as an employee .

Explain to Revenue about cost of tools , working clothes , laundry costs , etc , specially if you work in a dusty environment ( like most warehouses )

Note that the €97 is not a tax credit , but rather an allowance , so the actual nett value to you would be €19.40 if your tax rate is 20 %.

But of course you can claim 4 prior years , so it can add up to a nearly €80 overall ( if your balancing statement is otherwise balanced )

It is unlikely your partner would qualify , if in an office environment , but you got nothing to lose by outlining incurred expenses if any .
