UAE will hopefully put up a fight and keep Paks NRR near ours, or better yet win :D

Aus should destroy Afghanistan. The latters pace bowling is good but batting is very suspect. Plus the Aussies will be pumped after the NZ game.

Faulkner could return for Australia. Box office player and brilliant for the tournament that he's back. I hope Clarke gets some runs.

Should be easy enough for Pakistan. Misbah will finally get his hundred.

If Australia win the toss, they need to bat first as a quite a few need some time out in the middle, and to be fair you will need to bat well to go big against the Afghans.

Afghanistan bat first and it will be over very quickly.

Pakistan should be fine against the UAE, Wahab and Irfan will get the job done.

Ya can't see any bother for Pakistan or Australia here

don't think it will be so clear cut for Pakistan.

UAE ran both us and Zimbabwe very close, and Pakistan have been awful by their standards.

Come on UAE, bring us one step closer to the promised land!

UAE to bowl first, they'll really need to get a few quick wickets and keep the Pakistani's pinned back

    There we go, 1 down

Jamshed caught, first wicket gone.... 10-1.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,853 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

That would have been some catch

    339/6

Pakistan should make good ground on the NRR today......will be surprised if the UAE get past 100 TBH

Hopefully Australia bat first in the other match like someone said before.....otherwise that will be over before the mid innings break

    :( 25-3 after 10 chasing...

Nevermind, we expected Pakistan to win this anyway,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭booth70

Both Pakistan and Australia making heavy weather of their respective matches so far

Pakistan don't look too bothered about bowling the UAE out and getting their NRR up

Australia in the meantime crawling in Perth..... After batting like Bradman all summer Smith struggling to get the ball off the square

Pakistan win by 129 runs. Could have been worse, Wp UAE for batting 50ovs

Aus going very big here and plenty of time for Warner to get past Rohit's 264

Pakistan's NRR moves to -0.385, slightly behind the Windies

Windies, Pakistan now on 4 pts with 2 games left, with Ireland having 3 games. Each have to play India or SA which could have a material effect on NRR

Ireland could do with a big win against Zimbabwe, but I suspect it's going to come down to a head to head against Pakistan if Ireland do pick up a couple of points against Zimbabwe

Warner out, put the curse on him :D

I'd think so too. Australia now 400-5

Australia finish up on 417-6. Caught out on the last delivery. Highest ever WC score for Aus.

they just played into Pak n Oz hand's by putting them first.
If they had batted first and put on any decent total, that would have put pressure on both Pak n Oz, you loose couple of quick wickets and straight away pressure is on in chasing...

Ah but therein lies the problem surely for the weaker teams - do they have the confidence to go in first and bat? They run the risk of being bowled out quickly and being totally humiliated..

I think Ireland would have done the same had Porterfield won the toss.
    They have done well chasing.
    Unless anyone heard otherwise?

Since the Aus v NZ Classic last Friday every match has been a one sided bore....

Some clean striking and big individual scores but level of competitiveness = ZERO

Zimbabwe ran Pakistan close have to admit though

Yep, there is a risk but on these flat pitches they've more chance batting first and putting pressure on the bigger teams.

Every single game in Australia we must bat first. We nearly blew it vs the UAE by chasing.

Win toss and take advantage of the totally dead and flat surface and aim for 300 plus. Under the lights the ball nips around a bit and chasing team falls way short. We play Zimbabwe in NZ I think so chasing or batting first shouldnt make any difference as pitches there are more balanced, but we play Pakistan in Adelaide and they suck at chasing. Their bowling isnt anything special, bat first and even a 260 plus total will have them crapping themselves. Hope we bowl in the right areas and take some early wickets.

Vs India just bat first get a respectable score and try make them work for their runs

When the UAE batted first against India though they were beaten even worse by 9 wickets. I think they made the right call, they just didn't back it up in the field with at least one easy drop and some poor bowling

That was in Perth though, when they had a single day to prepare.

True they let themselves down in the field and could have made a big difference, but there's a reason the team batting first in Aus wins 90 percent of the games.

I just feel our bowling on any surface will struggle, so may as well bat well and then use scoreboard pressure to our advantage.
