    Hey Guys,

I have a M8 android tv box and its perfect in most ways but every time i try play the 4od app, it will play the ads then it will give an message "4OD Alert, Playback error, Check your connectivity", i tried it wired and and wireless.

The frustrating thing, is that it works perfectly on my phone and tablet, of which all are running the latest version of Android

    Any ideas?

    Is your phone rooted?
There was a big thread recently about people who found it wouldn't work on their rooted devices.

I have an Android TV box that I never really used, hooked it up a couple of weeks ago and had issues with 4od as well. It wouldn't work when the box was wired as the app seemed to check for wifi connection. Then when I did connect to WIFI it still gave an error and asked me to reboot. Reboot made no difference.

Thanks for your reply ned, ya sounds like my problem too. It wouldn't connect via wire and when I try to play a show wirelessly, it looks like it's gonna start but then that error message.

I hope someone can suggest a work around

    Hey Guys,

for anyone who's interested, here's an update to my woeful first world problem. Apparently 4od no longer support android tv boxes. Although you can download the catch up tv and watch them but you can't access the archived stuff

heres the email i got from ch4

    Dear *****

Thank you for your email regarding 4oD.

We sincerely appreciate you taking the time and trouble to write to us, though we are sorry to advise that we do not support Android playback on television devices.

May we advise that we buy all of our programmes and content from independent production studios and we have strict rights agreements with them, which unfortunately means that we simply aren?t able to provide the 4oD Android service on these devices at the moment.

For information on the functionality of the 4oD app on Android, please click on the below FAQ link:-

    http://www.channel4.com/devices/faq/android.html#section-3-question-4

As detailed in the above link, you will need to download the app from the Google Play Store.

Your device needs to be running the Android operating system 4.0.4 or higher and we've focused our development and testing effort on the following devices: Google Nexus S, Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 5, Google Nexus 7 & 7c, Google Nexus 10, Nexus Galaxy, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S3 and up, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and up, Tesco Hudl, HTC One, HTC Desire C and Huawei Ascend P1.

The app is not available for use on Amazon Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD.

We are sorry for any disappointment that this may cause, we do hope to provide enhanced access to other devices in the future.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact 4oD.

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew Glover
