Just because I don't have verbal diarrhoea, doesn't mean I don't look at this forum on a daily basis.

My original point still stands however.

Definitely not fit for the radio, at all.

No...just when you want to thread spoil........as Charlie Brooker says...NOW GO AWAY........;)

Eye candy maybe, but otherwise intensely annoying.

I agree with the blackboard analogy, she also has that awful put-on accent, with its attendant inability to pronounce T.

    Laura Wissmore.

    Drives me mad.

she also has that awful put-on accent, .

Nope, that's the way she speaks and always has. It's a middle class Bray accent.

Not content with abusing people on the radio, we are now aiming abuse at people who are not on the radio. This forum has hit a new low.

I would have thought 2fm would be a more likely station for

Can't help but think this is a total non-story. Laura Whitmore whether you like her or not is one of the most high profile TV presenters on UK TV.

Granted she's done the odd bit of tv work in Ireland in recent years but I was under the impression she was mainly based in London where she seems to be ubiquitous on the social and fashion scenes.

Hence a move back to Dublin all be it to today FM would given her profile be a massive step down so again I think any suggestion Irish radio is on Whitmores horizon are wide of the mark.

What grinds my gears is that theres a huge amount of people who have spent years trying to get a break on a radio station,or working their way up, then someone like her who " just wants a career change" can almost walk up to any door and get a job because of who she is,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,192 ✭✭✭✭L1011

    She's already a broadcaster. It's not a career change.

She didn't just walk up anywhere, she worked her way up. Think she might have been a journalist or studied journalism at least before landing the MTV gig.

What grinds your gears is that she's "made it" at a relatively young age.

She's still broadcasting, don't think she'll be presenting The Last Word so not a big change really. Most radio people would be able to make the change to TV but can't because they're lacking in the looks dept.

    I very much doubt that.

She had an internship with Newstalk.

Just FYI, Laura studied journalism in DCU. She got the MTV gig after entering a competition to find the new face of MTV UK, and the rest is history. They made a good move booking her all those years ago.

I have met her a good few times. Great looking lady altogether.
I couldn't see her on Today FM (or Irish radio for that matter) unless it was a weekend show. She's too much going on in the UK, and they're more likely to snatch her up (such as Capital).

No issue with her "making it" fair play to her.....
    Looks...Really..????

    Again about the looks....
I too have met her ..she went to school with my daughter....;)

All i hear is an irritating voice...theres enough of them on radio already...

There's nothing wrong with making a respectful, complimentary remark about her looks since she models, represent brands, and the like.

Why are people having a go at someone who isn't on the radio?

I never mentioned a word about how Laura looks. I said most people in radio could not make the transition to TV because of their looks, even though they would be able for it.

    Face for radio.

It's easier for TV people to move over to radio, because the broadcast talent is mostly transferable and looks aren't important.

Why are people having a go at someone who isn't on the radio?

Because some people feel better when they're giving somebody a hard time anonymously. Whether it's justifed or not.
