Entries are now open on Triathlon Ireland for the Tinahely Duathlon 2015 (South Wicklow). €25 individual entry (€40 for 2-person relay team). The race and its course has been well received the past few years, attracting very strong fields. Places are limited to 150. This is a 100% club event, organised by Tinahely Tri Club.

Course is a 5km run, 20km bike, 3km run, broken down as follows:
5km run First half along backroads before entering a forest trail, and running along the riverbank to transition.
20km bike Head into Tinahely village and begin a steep climb up and out to surrounding countryside. This will bring you along rolling hills and down to Shillelagh village, back up a few hills along Coolattin estate, before levelling off back to transition.
3km run Out and back along another fast forest trail (road runners are suitable both trail sections).

Yeah you can register on the day from 08.00 to 09.30am (they have a few slots left). Registration is at the GAA clubhouse in Tinahely (1 min walk from trans). Post-race massage, sambos, and showers will be available there too.

    Details with maps here.

Edit- actually you should email them to inquire about a slot as they are very close to being full. tinahelytriclub@gmail.com

We set up trans, markers, etc. in lousy weather today, but all is now ready for the race tomorrow (the weather gods have promised better weather conditions on race day!). Registration Tinahely GAA Club House, School Road, Tinahely 8:00am - 9:00am
Registration Closes 9:00am sharp!! Car parking available there too. 200m walk to Transition which opens at 8:30am and closes at 9:30am (race briefing). Race starts at 10:00.

It should be a great race, lots of talent going to turn up at the pointy end, lots of ability throughout the pack, lots of shifty-eyed locals eying local glory :) Here's wishing everyone all the best, give it what you got on the bike uphill from 12km to 15km, all downhill from there! See you all back at the clubhouse for sambos and cake at prizegiving after. Thanks in advance for supporting our race from Tinahely Tri Club.

Kurt, do you if this is full?

    Well done zico!

Two lads came in from the first run about 40 secs ahead of zico, who must have had a savage bike to overtake them, and on for the win. 2nd was Conor Verbruggen, 3rd was Alexander Williams, with the best bike time of the day to move up through the field. Results

The race went off well, the weather played ball, and lots of smiling faces around afterwards.

Great race and very well run ! Loved the run course , just a pity some of the Tarmac on the cycling course isn't better.

Pretty rough in some places all right, we'd love them to be smoother but if you saw the size of the agricultural machinery that drives on them... to say nothing about the 100 cattle driven on the same roads an hour earlier... in general this time of year is seeing them at their best! Usually the club manage to get potholes etc filled before, and the locals are generally supportive traffic-wise. But yes, people tend to go home with vibro-ass after!

Thans Kurt, it was much harder earned than you make it seem though. 2nd was closing on me fast and I was very happy the finish line came when it did.

Great race, kudos to your club for putting it on.
