Asthma & stuff , getting worse.

    Hi.

I have had moderate asthma since I was a teenager. I'm now 43, gave up smoking a year ago ( i know I know ) but funnily since i gave up smoking over the last year I have had periods where my Ventolin Inhaler has no effect or much reduced effect and feel very tight and uncomfortable. This really effects my cardio and it has the net effect of me feeling exhausted when I've only 1/3 of my standard run done. I've really gotten into the fitness thing in the last year, gave up drinking etc. My only vice is too much coffee and occasional binges on sugary junk food. Otherwise my diet if very good, high in fiber/protein for my muscle building which is coming along nicely. I had to try very hard to give up the booze and fags and managed that but I'm a bit depressed that I can't really get into the cardio because of the setbacks I have from the asthma. I like to do also high intensity runs on the treadmill but If I'm in the slightly bit wheezy at the beginning then it escalates and am unable to do the run I wanted.

Okay so I am on Ventolin and a preventer call sybicort. So the doc puts me on a dose of steroids ( fourth time now in the last yera ) and although that seems to clear it over a few days it looks to me that it comes back again over time. I never had to take any steroids in the past except maybe when I was a teenager.

Now I am suffering from other stuff as well atm that I am wondering might be related. I have serious dry mouth and wake up in the morning with a completely arid mouth. I never had this in the past. The other thing is my facial complexion has completely changed from white to red caused by small blotchy patches and small pimply dots( not raised ) that seemed networked together on my forehead and cheeks, by the nose, but not so much on the beard growth area. I really only noticed all the dot like effect today in the gym when the fluorescent light caught it at the right angle , so it's not awfully visible but is there when I look at it close up. My complexion used to be excellent where ppl thought I was 5 or more years younger than I really am but I look like I've aged a few years in the last year. Mabye the smoking did catch up with me after all.

So I am looking into finding a new GP to get a second opinion on the asthma medication. Does anyone think all these things could be related in any way. I feel like maybe I'm deprived of something. Oxygen ? I take vitamin D supplements and fish oils. Is there stronger mediation for the asthma available? If the skin thing is unrelated should i go to a dermatologist or GP first ? Thanks.

Op, this is crossing the line on what we can permit here, it's too much 'medical advice' I'm afraid, so thread closed. Speak to a GP in the first instance.
