Applied for NCT, what now?

Just applied for my NCT. My current NCT expires at the end of May. The first available date is in late May. I didn't accept the May date, as I don't want to do the test so close to my NCT expiring, in case I fail on something during the test and I need time and money to fix it. I clicked on the option to get an earlier date if nothing is available within 28 days. I selected the 'As Soon As Possible' option.

I just got the email saying that they will be in touch with an appt date within the next 2 weeks. Will I really get a date within the next two weeks, given the long backlog? Will they hold it against me the fact that there is an appointment available before my current NCT runs out, but I am choosing not to take it?

    Thanks.

I recently applied for test and was able get a date within two / three weeks in all centres. In all centres there was 1 appointment available very soon and lots of appointment in May and even June:eek:

Try logging in late at night if possible - I booked mine at around midnight I think and there were free slots available within 1-3 weeks.

Thanks, but I don't think I can reapply once I have already requested to be put on their priority list.

Jazus, more power to yer elbow !

Just logged on there and reapplied and got an appt for March 16th. :D

    Thanks a million.

Btw, They will make the new expiration date be two years from when the current one expires & not the date of the test itself, right?

That would be correct in your case I think - you will get it until the end of May 2017:D

Good luck with your test, got mine on Thursday (booked a week ago I think).

There is an improvement in the booking process - no more complaining on waiting times on this forum.

It's a bit mad though, isn't it? If I hadn't posted here, I would have just presumed that the two or three month wait was the norm, as a May 23rd appt was the earliest one on offer when I first applied.

You would probably get a phonecall from them anyway.

I agree it isn't perfect, but it is always worth to log on few times to see if anything is available at an earlier date (even after your booking is confirmed you can reschedule it).

They should put this info on their website, though (or a link to boards motors forum:D).

It won't let me log in online a'tall. It won't accept my date of registration.

Just have to wait for them to ring me :(

If you have any old booking number you can use it to log on (can be one from last years if it is the same car to test)

    Alternatively you can call them.

Edit: If you book your appointment with debit / credit card you only need registration number I think.
