Turbo training advice

    Seeking advice on turbo training.

I'm new to turbo training, I'm not quite sure how to match my set up to a turbo training video - for example http://youtu.be/AiDD_aqdnK0?list=PLUdAMlZtaV13e3-rJq1W0O1kf2DVlslmC

In the video goes up to 9 levels whereas my trainer has 5 resistance levels. Do I go on the big chainring or just focus on cassette/gears.

I struggle to do 100 rpm when standing up as per video..

    Thanks

You'd have to use a mixture of turbo resistance and bike gearing to get the extra levels on that video. A bit of trial and error would be my suggestion

Im new enough to the turbo aswell but heres what i do.
I have the resistance set and i pretty much leave it alone....i use my gears then to increase/decrease intensity.

If i work my way up through the gears at a good cadence(say 90 plus for myself) once i reach top gear im pretty much giving it my all to keep that cadence at that resistance.

The way i look at it is i can change down(gears) from there and theres no point topping out with gears left.
Also i find that using the lower resistance level on the Turbo there is a lot less slippage on the rear tyre so i guess a lot less wear...its quieter too!

Im sure others will have different views but that how i have mine setup.

If im doing HIIT and i am in a short "recovery period" sometimes i will reduce the resistance on the turbo aswell as changing down gears for that 30 seconds just to try get heart rate down.
    Marty.

I've started using TrainerRoad lately and find it great. Might be of some use to you OP

    Thanks guys.

I went on it yesterday morning and tried your tips. Did a mixture of both resistance & gears, will take some time to get used to the turbo.

    Cheers
