Does having 300mm attic insulation in the attic mean the end of attic for storage?

I'm considering adding extra insulation to my attic. At present there is 100mm of insulation. This is a single layer rolled out between the joists (which are 100mm deep and 400mm apart).
If I cross lay 200mm of extra insulation on top of this, doesn't it go without saying that I will no longer be able to use my attic for storage? Unless I have some sort of a shelving system close to the entrance, or a hanging floor above the insulation.

    Thanks.

Install a raised floor using a timber frame resting on top of the existing ceiling joists and you'll have most of the space back.
There are loads of threads in DIY on how to do it.

Not saying it's ideal but this is what I done.
In the areas I don't use for storage I rolled out 300mm. Ant in the centre areas I cut 8 X 4 sheets of kings pan insulation almost in half leaving one side uncut. Fold in half and After putting them in the attic simply unfold them again. Then I put down existing flooring on top of them. Done the job for me
