5-7k Sterling 1300Km per week car wanted

I will be doing 1300 KM per week in the next few months for at least 1 year and I need something reliable and economical.

I am looking at getting a cheap work horse that has some creature comforts for doing the 95% motorway journey. I am based in the UK so I don’t have to worry about the new tax rate. So I would consider any car from 2002 as long as it had lowish tax.

My budget is around 5k sterling but I could stretch to 7k for the right car.
I have five minimum requirements; comfy seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, parking sensors and as economical as possible.
So far I have one car on my list which is the Citroen C5. I would be looking at a 2009 2 litre hdi. Does any one have any other additional recommendations?

Out of that list I would love the Alfa. I would go for the 2.4 instead of the 1.9 but I am not sure what the economy is lie on the 2.4.

I'd be looking at something like a Volvo S80 D5 auto. They are cheap enough in the UK for what you get and the seats are some of the best out there for comfort.

I am not a fan of the s80 I had one in 2012 as a pool car in a company I worked and I didnt like it, it was also heavy on fuel.

CC is lovely, I would get a 2011 plus if I had the money since it has the bluemotion engine.

Today my head is going with a 320D but finding one without the N47 engine is a pain. I live by a dealer that has loads of them, I am going to have a chat with him closer to the weekend to see if he can do something if there is a sign of failure.
