    Decided for once to do something useful with my weekend so gave the engine bay a going over, had wanted to go at the alloy covers for a long while so finally got the bits together that I needed. Decided to go with black and chrome as the car is silver with black leather, plus I saw this somewhere before and thought it looked great.

    Great little mod for a few quid and some elbow grease. Will post a pic of the engine when I get them back in, here's what I used.

    * Black engine paint
    * Wire brush
    * BBQ cleaner
    * Stainless steel cleaner
    * Sanding paper High, Medium , Fine
    * Cleaning cloth's
    * Maquires stainless steel polish

    Took all weekend , but I was taking my time and going very slowly. It's all in the prep work as they say...clean...clean...clean again :thumbs:

    Looks great. Look forward to seeing it all back together. Did you put clear lacquer over it too?

    Yeah I put a layer over it just to seal it...want it to stay like that for a while!

    Great job. Looks fantastic.

    But is clear lacquer not for exterior paint? Also would it hold up to the heat of the engine?

    Indeed, it's a high temperature one for engine bays not a standard one!got it from Amazon it's all back together now but in the garage getting new springs for Nct retest end of the week, gonna do a full detail on the car the weekend now and clean up the rest of the engine bay...

    Didn't actually think I'd get the right shine in the chrome when I started surprised myself!

    For the love of God change that intake pipe. Well worth the money. Looks well though, fair play

    Yeah I've given up trying to find a replacement flexi hose going to build an induction for it not week, it's a bit of a tricky job because of the bends and MAF position but shall be done!

    Also possibly thinking about remapping the ECU when it's all sorted never had it done before though..

    As far as I know you can still get them from the main dealer.

    I was quoted €190 for one delivered from the UK if it's of interest.

    Thanks man, but I'm going to do the new induction. Since I've done the cat back already it makes sense to do the intake now if I'm planning on a remap plus for that 190 I'll build the induction and never have the issue again!
