Disposable Cameras

    Hey all,

I'm looking at buying about 15 disposable cameras to leave around the place at our reception for guests to take pictures.
We did the same thing with a few at the engagement party and the photos were brilliant.

I've been trying to shop around to see where I can get a good deal on them. Ebay seem to have a few offers but they're unbranded cameras so I don't know if they'd be any use.

Do you guys know anywhere around to Dublin area or online that have a decent offer on them?

    Thanks!

Have you actually asked in any of the shops/pharmacies selling them for a bulk discount?
Explain what you're doing, I'm sure they will be happy to cut you a discount.

Just be sure that they have a flash on them, we were at a wedding once that spent a fortune on the cameras and developing them, essentially got about 300 black photos.

I wouldn't waste the money on the cameras to be honest, they are going to be used in a dark room so the quality of the pics will be terrible if they even come out at all. In work in the wedding industry and have seen this a bit and without fail they are a disaster for the cost involved when you include purchase and developing.

You'd be better off getting something like the wedpics app where everyone can upload pics from their phone, you can then print out the ones you want rather than printing 24 to find just one came out alright!!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I never thought about the size/lighting of the room at the reception and how it would affect the quality of the photos :o

The engagement party was at my parents' house which is obviously smaller and better lit than the hotel will be so that's why the pictures there came out so well.

That wedpics app looks very good AndersLimpar, thanks so much for the recommendation!

We did this and got them free from a family member and free development, and they were still a waste :) we got a few great pics, from the tables with the oldest guests. Our own friends all forgot about having to use a flash! Lots of dark ones!

same here, lots of crappy photos. safe to say most people have cameras on their phones now so the requirement for disposable cameras isnt there as much.

with disposable cameras you'd get the best man to add a line about it in the speeches, ie, to make sure they throw in the cameras to a bag at the end of night. just do the same for that app. and throw a few cards on tables with the app at end of night.

Just RE the Wedpics app, a friend used this for her wedding, it was a very badly laid out site from what I could tell, scrolling through 100pics of people you didn't know just to get one of the B&G.
Assigning an Instagram hash tag would be as handy.
