Pilot light and gas heater

    Hi guys,

    A quick question.

I just bought and apartment and the water and cooker are gas, with a bottle and a pilot light.

Do I leave the pilot light on 24 7 at a low heater indicator - Which I think might be a bit of a waste if it is heating water all day after our morning showers- or do I only turn it on when I need hot water or am cookign something.

    Thanks!

What type or 'water heater' is it?
    On a cylinder? (bottle)
What type of central heating do you have?

Hi! Its a bottle system using a pilot light. I live in Alicante so. O central heating....which is pretty stupid because it gets very cold here in the winter.

    Thanks!

    I remember them well..
The pilot light is slowly using up your gas, we used to switch ours off and only have it on when we were having showers.
The newer models have an automatic ignition system which only start up when you begin to use the hot water, they are more effecient than the older heaters as well, might be worth your while looking into having one fitted.
