    Hi,

we are having a really small immediate family wedding which will involve a trip to the registry office in Dublin and then a lunch afterwards for 14 people.

Does anyone have any suggestions on somewhere in town close to the registry office that would cater for 14 people (and would have a bit of "wedding feel" to it, not just a lunch)?

Also we are looking for a photographer for the ceremony and for a few shots after. Any recommendations?

    Thanks a lot.

Photography will be reasonable if you are looking for a short day so I'd try and get someone amazing.

http://www.antonijanekic-photo.com/ is a new person I found that's very reasonable and her work is amazing.

I love the winding stairs on the quays in Dublin for a lovely special place feel :)

Hope you have a great day

L'Ecrivain has a lovely private dining room for weddings. We were told by a waiter there they tailor their menus specifically for couples so it often isn't as expensive as you might expect for the style of food they serve.

What time is your ceremony at? Are you looking for lunch or dinner? What will give it the weddingy feel for you?

We're doing something similar with 10 people (followed by a bigger reception the following day).

Our ceremony is at 12.30, and we'd originally intended on a late lunch/early dinner, but because of restaurant opening hours for the best restaurants, that's now a lunch booking at 2pm, we're just moving most of the photos before the ceremony.

Locks, L'Ecrivain & Guilbauds made our shortlist. The Pigs Ear, Chapter 1 & Forest Avenue were also up there. Generally googling "Private Dining" Dublin got us what we were looking for and there are dozens of options. Locks offered a dinner package with reception drinks at 4pm for a little bit and then sitting down for dinner. It sounded fabulous, and might be what you're looking for, but there was just too much hanging around between lunch at dinner for us, so we've gone with Guilbauds at 2pm in their private dining room. It's a beautiful room, and their last orders for food are at 2.15pm versus L'Ecrivain at 2pm which is what swung it for us. It doesn't hurt that the lunch menu is better value then the dinner menu.

I've seen a number of recommendations for the schoolhouse here, but I brought a group there for our summer outing about a year and a half ago and the service was surly for no reason and the food was unimpressive so it wasn't on our short list.

Photography wise, we expected it to be very cheap, but really didn't find it to be a wonderful deal. Granted we were booking less than six months out, but as one of the photographers we talked to pointed out, they can only do one wedding a day so if you've booked, they don't care all that much if it's for 3 hours or 8 hours. They'd prefer to take the day with 8 hours and make more money. You'll get a discount for the shorter day, but don't rely on it being hugely cheaper.

Lockes have a lovely front room upstairs that overlooks the canal, think it would be ideal for 14 people, you'd have the room to yourselves.
