I have some property investments and am considering buying land for forestry in the future not to have all my eggs in one basket.
I have been surprised at how much is involved.
There are so many considerations it really is a complicated business what trees to choose where to get land quality of the soil etc etc
But my first consideration is how much should insurance cost per year ?
I have been thinking about 15 -20 acres in Cavan to start with with but would want trees that would mature in 25-30 years due to my age. Obviously there will be thinnings through the years but I doubt they would even pay for the upkeep of fences, fertiliser and payment to forestry professionals etc
    Thanks

Have 12 acres insured with fbd, it's about €100 a year. I think it covers re-planting but not loss of income though.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
