Firstly, is your device rooted? Then what about your contacts, SMS and calender entries etc. have you planned or do you need to back them up too? A cloud solution might be the handiest for those.

If your device is rooted you can backup all the user data of each app (login details, prefs etc.) with a file manager like ES File explorer or Titanium backup etc. or you can do a full mirror backup of your device with Nandroid.

If you're not rooted you can only backup the apps with no user data using a file manager, so in this instance you'd be quicker and better off just logging in to your play store, going to 'My apps' and re-installing the ones you want again.

Hmm not sure either how your apps would have downloaded again automatically after a re-flash, maybe someone else would know...

Personally though I'd just flick through 'My apps' and re-install the ones you want. You'll probably find you don't want all of them anymore and you'll have the latest versions on a nice clean install. I've done it myself that way instead of using backups and it took no time at all.

Find back up and restore in settings and check if you google account is set to back up your app data etc, there should also be an option for automatic restore so if your starting fresh when you sign back into that account all your apps will start re downloading automatically. If you've had the option ticked for awhile you may find more recently installed apps won't download but you'll find them handy enough under the list of all apps in my apps in the play store.

One app I personally for backing up contacts and pictures and stuff is G Cloud, I've been using it for years and it serves well when you need to restore messages and call logs and stuff.

    Link is here.
