    Hi guys

I have a problem with my GFs car. 1.4 petrol golf. Sitting idle it's skipping (trying to explain it) it feels like the fuel stops n starts again. And this gets worse when driving. It can just chug in any gear

    It's getting worse too

Mechanic couldn't find anything wrong and suggested dirty fuel. We are now on the 3rd tank from a reputable garage as he suggested but no joy

It also went on the computer but no errors

Engine light also comes on now and then

    Can anyone advise

    Thanks

Can you tell us what's been checked so far?

Sounds like your problem is a coilpack starting to go on one of the cylinders.Plugging it into Vagcom and reading the live data will help diagnose it

Don't have the specifics but the mechanic give it a good once over and put it in the VAGCOM but couldn't find anything

Hi it could be a faulty sensor but has symptoms of clutch or even greater possibility the fly wheel.

    This.

If the warning light has come on then a code was logged.

A silly one that gets missed is the cat, if its damaged internally the matrix can move around blocking the exhaust pipe. If this is the problem for the OP then it could get worse or better at different engine speeds as the pressure of the exhaust gasses would hold the loose internals of the cat in different positions. Other parts of the exhaust could produce similar results.
