Hi all just looking at the 6 nations fixtures for 2016 and see we have france on sat 13th feb, was thinking of stena to cherbourg on the thursday and leaving sunday.looking at taking the car purely for stocking up on the aul vino. Would have 4 in the car (grand picasso) so cost not really a prob. Normally go to the campsites in june so familiar with the ferries, just thinking what the crossing is like then, would it be really rocky and whats the chances of a decent nights kip..

It could be stormy alright. We were just over at Christmas just gone and we were lucky this time as it was calm going over and just a little bit choppy coming back. But two years previous we had a dreadful crossing with lots of puking on the way out and a fairly rough home journey as well.

February would still be in the window for wintery storms so there is a chance you could be hit. Summer crossings tend to be a lot more calm.

Also was there at Christmas twice to / from France on the ferry.
It's choppy this time of the year but if you have a cabin to lie down in then that's half the battle.
After Christmas the crossing was quite choppy but again it depends on yourself.
The wife and daughter were laid low by the roughness, but myself and the son were running about without a bother. Even had a pint and a decent spicy curry on the stena ship whereas the wife was struggling to eat a few chips.
