My brother breeds them with years
I had a bull on dairy cows before there easy calving and thrive and put on weight well.
If I was going into sucklers I would buy them.

I was looking at Simmental's but I work 6 days so was looking for a breed that calfs easy and are hardy and have a high weight gain to grass ... Looking at purchasing soon maybe but cattle prices sky high

Have an aubrac bull here, run with angus cows, only 1 aubrac x angus cow left, long story. Nice and quiet as cows, but you'd know when you had a few calves or yearlings in the crush. Easily calved, but don't get into huge weights at finishing, grade well though. Any questions fire away.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

There's a decent choice of Aubrac bulls in Ai. Should be no problem getting straws.

I dont think they would sell well as weanlings off black cows but I'd imagine they would be a good cross for finishing young

Most of mine came black, so not really suitable for export, supposed to be a good market in France for culard charolais x aubrac going to Italian feedlots.

One thing I've noticed is aubrac bull not really colour dominant, got a couple of red ones, but they came from cows with lim back a generation or two. An odd one would have a brown body with black muzzle and a black stripe along the back. Some can be striped like a tiger, but I didn't get any of those! Reason I bought mine was to run with beef heifers.

AI straws are available as tanko says. Don't know about pure bred, market for the bulls I'd say is limited enough. But one of the aubrac x bulls I slaughtered this month was hung from the pelvis before going to the chill room, which would suggest he was on his way to Italy.;)

If you're working six days a week would you not be better off with dry cattle unless you have someone reliable to look after calving etc at home.

Hard to beat Angus cattle for easy calving, hardiness and getting fat on grass.

    Ya.
A lot of mad cattle can be from the way they are handled/herded.

True and if the OP is working 6 days a week it will be hard to get time to stand awhile everyday with them

Ya tis also a worry like as far as I can see my ground suits that system cows producing a calf and seems to be only way to make money on it it's only small but every pound counts ... Ya Angus are tough rooters surely but are u limiting you sales to factory or for fatten

I'd say PB Angus bulls sell quicker than continental bulls at the minute anyhow

The market is strange at the moment I think a lot people waiting for the bottom to fall out ... My ground would suit Angus there a breed I never looked at much have had few crosses and been happy but was always drawn to Simmental or limo
