Hi everyone, just wondering if there is any spotting community for Shannon Airport? It doesn't strike me as the sexiest airport for spotting, but are there any regulars there here on boards?

I am not on facebook unfortunately. Where do ye shoot from? Is there any particular day that's better for traffic? I've developed a beginners interest in photography and would like to combine it with my passion for aviation - I have no experience of plane spotting whatsoever :(.

The summer schedule starts at the end of the month and will be a fair bit busier than at present. There's alot of unscheduled traffic like maintenance visits and military but it's just a case of being in the right place at the right time

Can you go into the grass area in the corner of shannon aerospace or is it frowned upon?

Nor sure Shannon Aerospace will let you park in there...but there is a viewing area near it or used to be. Literally when you turn into Shannon Aerospace, pass their entrance and keep going a hundred yards or so.

Is it good for photography? Unrestricted views? I used to plane-spot years ago when you could park alongside the perimeter fence, but haven't been out there since Shannon Aerospace was built. Might go out again if there was a decent place to park without attracting unfavourable attention from anyone in authority.

Your right at the end of the runway so most of the planes stop right in front of you before taking off. Never been asked to move by anyone and there's usually a few other cars. You will need a stepladder to see over the fence though. Will post my favorite picture from the spot later

Lovely shot, the MD-11 looks great in the EI livery. So is a stepladder essential if one was to head out there?

You could shoot through the fence but it's best with a stepladder.

I assume if you go down past that factory and hop the farmers gate type fence and stay right at the end of the runway youd be shifted? even tho your still outside the boundary fence, you know where the wooden step is to hop another farmer fence

They look like nice spots. So it's free to go there and take photos? You're not trespassing on anyone's land?

Was thinking about it. Ten o clock departure though, isn't it dark by then? Must pay attention at that time tonight!

EI-DVM, the Retro Livery plane inbound to Shannon from Malaga. ETA: 13:20 and will depart again at 14:00.

If anyone is around its a very rare treat, as Shannon has only 5 weekly A320 services during the Peak summer season so its rare to get the planes with the special liveries.

Seen it land earlier, lovely looking 744 allways a nice sight. All the same EINN gets a great variety of aircraft visiting!
