Polish prep

So the motor has a small bit of damage to the bumper and a few stone chips and lacquer peel on the bonnet that was annoying me.

Dropping it into a local body shop next week to get it sorted, both being resprayed.

He said he would give the car a full machine polish also. I was wondering what's the best prep that I can do?

The plan was a good wash, de-tar /iron, and clay.

Anything else that I should pay attention to?

    Yeah; that prep is grand.

The machine polish would be more beneficial being done first. Because if there is any blow in to be done it will be painting over previous damage. Will make it easier to match colour too as the paintwork will be back to original colour.

And watch for loads of buffer trails if he does not machine it properly.:(

Yeah, kinda afraid of that, had a chat to him about the quality I expected and I will explain that again when I'm dropping it off.

Got it all de-tarred and clayed today.
I was really surprised bu the amount of tar on it, had to go over the drivers door 3 times!
