Styling Wordpress Elements

So working away on adding comments to a theme at the moment and what I would like to know is, is there anyway of styling the elements without using the wordpress generated tags? So have your own comment layout and have the wp stuff conform to pre formatted css.

If you know the CSS classes used you can style it as you wish.
