Text Today from DHL for Tax on Item 4 Months Ago?

I received a text from DHL for an item i bought back at the end of October, last year. They are charging me tax on the item now for €37, 4 months after the item actually was delivered.

I know the item could have been taxed by Irish Customs because it was coming from Asia, but strange they would wait 4 months to finally charge me.

I assumed that it skipped by the customs office undetected, as surely the charge would have been much sooner.

Question is, is this normal practice to charge bill people 4 months later and should i bother to pay it or just ignore it?

More than likely the paperwork just got mislaid in the office and now it's been located. They'll keep after you if their past history is right, you still owe it after all.

If so OP has the choice to pay €37 which he knows is owed, or risk his credit rating...
