American Crime, starring Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman, is set in California’s Central Valley and centers on a racially charged murder and the subsequent trial, which are examined through the personal lives of the players involved.

It has an impressive cast and looks very good

is the guy actually 'an illegal'?

No that was just her jumping to a conclusion and sticking to it.

Then the media jump on it from her interview.

I think they(The makers of the show) are trying to show how things get twisted so easily before anyone knows the facts.

the weed dealer said 'why else you gotta sneak across the border', maybe he was talking about himself but the guy didn't respond and say he didn't, although maybe that was cleared up later when they caught him?

i think the show is also showing the husband and wife making their own presumptions, he doesn't presume the guy is an illegal but he could be, they obviously created them to have very different politics, not too subtle.

That what I was thinking when the mother first hears the son is dead her reaction was an illegal then she said in the interview.

I don't think myself he is but it may turn out to be as the trail goes on or he could be forgotten about and it could focus on the twist at the end of the episode.

Episode 1 is already gone from RTE Player and the show in general is not available on console apps, typical.

Based on the pilot I'm more interested in the family dynamics than what's going on a street level/in the gutter.

I'm on episode 3. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be making a grand point about the intersection of racial politics and the legal system, since it seems to be showing the nuances of how people on both sides of that social fence suffer. For example: on one hand,
Tony's dad feels disproportionate pressure as a Mexican to conform to white expectations
. On the other hand, there seems to be a lot of
white guys in the juvenile institution
. Anyway, I like how it's exploring that, courts/legal stuff, family dynamics and religion.

Finished watching them this evening. Found it very gripping and gives you a different view with how these things go. Felt sorry for russ, he was trying his best and nobody cared.

Season 2 is on 3 episodes in and I have to say I think its stronger than season 1 so far.

Completely missed out on series 2. Going to have to catch up now especially if it is stronger than series 1.

I haven't watched the third episode yet but so far I think it's a lot better than the first season. I was going in this one thinking I'd be dropping the show after the first episode but I can't see that happening now.

Finished watching the second episode. Bit weird seeing the characters from season 1 in different roles. Already hate Regina Kings character :L. Not a bad start to season 2 at all.

Episode 3 is the best so far. I can't believe there isn't more discussion on here about it.

I've missed series 2 completely - what channel is showing it?

Just finished watching Season 2 on RTE this week (haven't seen Season 1). Really enjoyed it, found it a bit of an uncomfortable watch at times. I found my position on the victim changing throughout the season as he seemed to be constantly changing his story, he really put his mother through a tough time. I liked the ending for the two main guys as it was left up to your own mind what was going to happen, it built all the way through the episode and then ended.

I didn't like Regina Kings character starting of but she I grew to like her towards the end where she was quite honourable and decent. I thought as a whole cast, the performances were top drawer. I will try and watch season 1 now.
