Firstly not sure this is the correct forum for this questions, I am a full time paye worker and have an opportunity to take on a second part time job. However my question is this am I better off being a Paye worker on my second job or should I invoice the company? If I go down that road, how does this work?

It more than likely won't be up to you, the company will either employ as a PAYE employee or else they will ask you to provide them a tax clearance cert and treat you as a self employed contractor.

The latter would involve registering for self-assessment and filing a return after the year ends to declare your income. It would be considerably more hassle than just being an ordinary PAYE employee.
