2 mins on google OP. Information will usually be on this site, will be updated soon I imagine.

Pretty much everyone on res doesn't know the people they live with at the start of the year. You'll be grand, people are friendly.

I'm going to UCD in September, hoping to get Campus accom too. I'm sure making friends will be fine. I'm afraid of missing the date to apply for accom and end up commuting

It's first come first served. Keep checking the website, soon they'll put up a date/time for when registration to the waiting list will happen. It was 7 or 8 am last year, but it was a few mins later than it was supposed to be. If you are quick, you will be very low on the list. In reality you should aim to be below 1000, but even more than that get an offer. I was <100 on the waiting list last year, but under 1000 is good. Then when the registrations for accommodation open in August you'll get an email depending on where you are on the list. Then try be as quick as possible again if you want Belgrove/Merville, a lot of people want to stay there so the places go pretty quick. If you want to stay with some friends on campus you'll have to really be quick, but it is possible.

PS: I ended up getting accommodation on campus (Belgrove), simply because I was organised and applied asap for both the waiting list and the registration. There's nothing to worry about if you apply asap both times, all of my friends were the same and they are all on campus too. You also need to remember when the LC results come out a lot of people will be off the list, and you'll go up (assuming you get UCD), so even if you're really far down the list don't worry. Best of luck.

Where did you get that? I think it's not official yet? :)

I've a friend in 1st year ucd, and next year she wants to live on campus again, and she was told it would be the 8th of May. It was the same date last year.

It's generally different for continuing students and new students in an effort to try to prevent the IT crash that comes with 1000s of people clicking the same link at once.

I am currently abroad (Erasmus) and kind of freaking out about missing any deadlines since I am a bit out of the loop.

I have been checking the UCD residences page regularly since the start of the semester but they keep on delaying and saying 'information for 2015-2016 will be updated soon...'

Really hope I manage to get a room as planned since I have no plan B or other place to go to and no family in Ireland to help me out (French national).

*Anyone got further advice* to ensure we get a room, apart from checking the page regularly + booking ASAP with credit card in hand and good wifi connection?

Also I have been thinking about living in Glenomena - because I'll be in my last year of undergrad and want some comfort/quiet, would that be the right choice and worth the 1,000€ more it costs compared to Belgrove/Merville?

Thank you for your help :)

I have no advice about getting ahead in terms of booking, just keep looking as regularly as you can. I'm out of the loop too so if you happen to see that the booking opens up, post it here please!
I have a friend in Glenameena and its really lovely. It definitely seems to be one of the more quiet areas to live, and the bathrooms and kitchens there are nicer too.

Good to hear, I know there are no ovens but small price to pay to be in a quiet, clean place :)

I am checking the UCD residences daily/every other day so I'll definietly post it here if/when I find out anything! Called the residences office 2 weeks ago and they were super rude, didn't even let me finish my sentence just stated that they didn't know yet and couldn't answer me :(

Right well the changes to ucd accommodation seem absolutely dreadful to me. No longer on a first come first served basis, which is fair enough, but random selection is even worse. Surely if there was some sort of sorting process where people who are from the country and can't commute get priority, or even if you got priority for having UCD 1st on your CAO would be something.

Yeah these changes seem pretty stupid. In any case...final years like me don't even get a shot so guess I should start looking for somewhere to live :/
