All the first year accommodation is in Trinity Hall in Rathmines. The complex includes mostly modern accommodation but there is also Cunningham House, which is more 70s style and mostly communal, ie lots of people sharing kitchens and bathrooms. In the modern rooms there is a choice of either a single or shared bedroom. The shared ones are waaaaay bigger than the singles and they have their own bathroom between two, whereas the single rooms are much smaller but you get your own bathroom to yourself. There are six per apartment, normally all girls or all guys, but they try to put you with people with similar interests/on the same course. Everyone in the apartment shares a kitchen/living area. Halls is great fun, there's lots of community spirit and it's a great way to make friends in your first year.

If you don't get in, then it's down to looking for your own accommodation in Dublin, which can be rather stressful at that time of year as everyone else is looking, but there are plenty of options available there too =)
