Messenger not displaying all Facebook contacts

I'm using Messenger on an iPhone 5 and have attempted to create a group in Messenger but only a few of my Facebook friends are displayed in the 'add people' list. If I manually enter a name it appears but I want to select from the entire Facebook contacts list. Does anyone know a fix for this?
