    Hi

Thinking of going for a 2010 Peugeot 3008. The diesel 1.6 with the manual gearbox.

What are peoples thoughts on them ?

    Are they relatively Reliable?
    Should I run a mile?
    What are running costs like?
    Is it a comfortable car?
Is boot space adequate for 2 kids under 1.5 years and 2 car seats?

As im buying a few years old, alot of the depreciation costs will have hopefully happened already

    Fair enough.

But it's all about practicality now with a family.

How many kids is it? 2 or 4?
Kinda confused by the post about the boot.

    Sorry it's 2 kids.

Suppose I should have said is the boot of an adequate size to handle a double buggy and everything else involving journies with 2 kids.

Dangerous question; any plans for more kids in the next few years?

My father is on his second 3008 and other than it's looks I couldn't say a bad word about them. Very comfortable and great vision from the elevated driving position. His have been very reliable though he buys new or nearly new and keeps for 3 years. Very efficient and refined Diesel engine. The car is more than capable of accomodating a family.

Very good to hear. Suppose always had it in my head that Peugeots were VERY unreliable........but the modern era of ones SEEM to be ok.

My opinion is that you'd want to know that the previous owner serviced it on or before time using the right oil. Those 1.6 HDIs need to be looked after, and could be a money pit if not.

Something like a Seat Altea XL 5 seater 1.9 TDI would have an enormous boot, big room in the seats and a less finicky engine.
Its nowhere near as modern as a 3008 inside though.

If it's anything like the 308hdi and you look after it you'll have no problems, I put 110000 miles on one of them over five years without a single problem, it sailed through every NCT and was fantastically economical. I wouldn't say the 3008 looked "rotten" but they might not be to everyone's taste. I know one person who has one and loves it. I travel a lot to many not so glamorous places in the world and everywhere I go I see Peugeots of various age and condition because they're pretty robust and reasonable enough to keep going, the quality of the modern cars they produce is as good as you'll find anywhere in my opinion but they don't really hold their value which is a bonus if you're buying a used model as you can get quite a bit for your money.

My wife has a 2010 3008. She absolutely loves it and plans on getting the same again whenever she decides to change.

She has it just over two years and in that time, it hasn't missed a beat. We have one child and the space is more than ample for him at least. There's no reason that it won't be big enough for two kids and all that they come with.

The boot is also large enough for everything we've thrown at it anyway.

Buy one with a well documented service history and you should be fine.
