They seem to have a new deal with An Post, which has speeded things ups lot.

On another note I ordered off Evans last and it arrives a full week (7days) later, slow compared to CR.

As a matter of interest, did you get a tracking number with that, and if so did it work with An Post's tracker? I ask as I ordered at around the same time and actually paid for next day delivery (BB is absolutely knackered, so need it today ideally), and while I got a dispatch mail, I've no delivery yet, and the tracking number is not recognised by An Post. Will be mightily pissed if it doesn't arrive, to be honest.

Good to hear chain reaction have improved. I gave up dealing with them a few years ago because of their delivery times.

Yes the tracking number did work on an posts website, did you get an email telling you it was despatched?

I've been buying from them for about 5 years now. Never had an issue

Yeah, I got the mail yesterday evening at about 18:10, but when I emailed them today about it, they responded to advise "It appears your order has been dispatched late and missed the collection lorry for An Post last night". Absolute joke of a "service", tbh, and surely they should treating next day delivery orders as priority for dispatch?! They've said they'll refund the €2.99 fee, but to be honest that's not much use to me, as I really needed the parts for this weekend, and I now either have to source alternatives locally and at greater expense (not to mention added hassle given the notice - I might have gotten somewhere yesterday evening had I known), or just not use my bike until their delivery arrives, on Monday at best.

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I personally don't think you should offer a service (and in particular use the word "guarantee") if you haven't your own house in order enough to be able to fulfill it, and this was all within their control.

It was my 1st time to order anything from them so while it was a small order & nextday was not a massive priority I just wanted to test the water as I remember reading here before that other boardsies have had issues with delivery times. Sorry for your troubles though cython.

I've had stuff the next day without paying for the next day delivery, and I've also had stuff take over a week, but it was only a cassette, chain and brake fluid so it wasn't something I needed instantly.

What gets me is the complete lack of any bubble wrap,or that brown paper that amazon use. Amazon use far too much of it,putting stuff in unnecessarily big boxes, but CRC are shocking. Had to get another chain whip, few inner tubes, brake pads, and an MTB tyre, the chain whip had punched a hole in the box and the pads were small enough to be pulled out the hole, and the whip had mashed the boxes for the tubes. Didn't bother complaining,i'd be public enemy #1 if I was the reason they started charging extra for packing because they had to buy rolls of brown paper just to scrunch it up

My order was pretty small too (3 items, largest being a bottom bracket), so as I pointed out to them in my reply it shouldn't be difficult to throw together quickly. I've ordered from them several times in the past and never used the next day delivery before (never will again now either, I suspect!), and while I've had mixed experiences with delivery time, most have been pretty good. Just infuriating to pay for a service and to get a cop out excuse like that - by extension there's nothing to stop the same thing happening in future (given it's such a broad excuse), so I'm left to wonder why bother offering it in the first place?

It nearly sounds like there might be no actual difference in the shipping, and they just cream off the €3 from suckers like me when it happens to get there the next day

Delivery times for me from CRC vary, but most of that is to do with Swiss Post. I ordered Northwave boots, took 10 days to arrive. Next order of wheels, timed so my wife would be out, took 3 days and arrived while she was in! Can't win.

I had issues before with the next day delivery on an order, which put me off them and didn't order with them for a good while. The last order a few weeks ago wasn't anything urgent, and significantly cheaper than the competition, and I went standard delivery. Was impressed with the speed to be honest - not next day, but the day after, quicker than the next day option before. Maybe their issue is the next day delivery?

I had a next day delivery go AWOL as well - ordered Thursday morning and it arrived Monday morning. The positive bit is that they refunded me the extra charge for the next day service when I asked them to.

See that's not a positive in my eyes, especially that you had to ask them to, unless of course your first contact was after the delivery was missed and you asked them in that too.

As to the general idea of the refund being a positive though, that is the absolute least they should do, given that they didn't keep up their end of the deal. However if that is the height of their "guarantee", it's probably one of the worst service guarantees I have ever heard of - "Ah sure we couldn't even get your delivery out the door, here's your fee back, but let's not inconvenience ourselves here. Your package will get to you sometime". If they even had an An Post issue to blame it might be something, as that would be outside their control, but I don't believe this is any significant factor in these CRC delivery issues, and their laissez-faire attitude to their admitted screw up today was beyond maddening.

Ok, feel obliged to come back with an update on this. I responded to CRC expressing my dissatisfaction with their response, and I got a call this afternoon from one of the guys there who basically apologised unreservedly, and accepted that they had messed up big time, especially when I had been able to point out that another poster here had received their delivery this morning without the next day payment, and ordering at virtually the same time. I had also pointed out the massive inconvenience that falling through on such guarantee presents coming into the weekend.

As a gesture, they've offered me €15 in vouchers (decent on a €26 order, to be fair), as well as the postage fee refund, and that if I want to return the delivery when it turns up on Monday for a full refund, that they will arrange for it to be collected at no cost to me. Obviously none of this gets me my delivery on time, but it's a better effort to make up for it than the excuse they offered earlier and just refunding the postage. It also suggests that they do actually want to be able to stand over their guarantee, in offering more than just a refund for failing to fulfil their guarantee (albeit after an angry mail!)
