Love him or hate him, but you certainly can't ignore him: Robert Parker's annual ratings for fresh from the barrel Bordeaux wines are a tradition, and can be the making (or breaking) of a chateau. No more though! Perhaps inevitably after last year's delayed ratings, Parker has announced that Wine Advocate Bordeaux en primeur reviews will be carried out by Neal Martin from now on.

As a consumer I guess you can (leaving aside his influence on prices), but not so easy for wine producers....... Although his influence has obviously waned the last few years, and I don't see the Wine Advocate 'brand' remaining as influential in his absence.
