Hi Guys, bit of a complicated one that i'd like an opinion/thoughts on.

So I started working Mid-November as a Christmas temp for a telecommunications company and worked from then until the 9th of January.

When I received my P45, my cessation certificate stated that I had been deducted 247.35 in Tax and 21.64 in USC.

I am wondering how to go about the process of claiming this tax back if at all possible? My earning for the year were well under the 18,000.

My problem is since then, I have been employed by the same company once again in a different store. Would this cause any problem with me attempting to claim my tax back?

Thanks a million for any help in advanced, I really appreciate any help you can offer.

    PF

regarding your work for 2014 up to 31 Dec 2014, your employer should give you a P60 for 2014 which is a statement of taxes for the year. the P45 you received should have been for work done from 01 Jan to 9 Jan 2015.

    Now register with Revenue.ie
    https://www.ros.ie/selfservice/enterRegistrationDetails.faces

you will be sent a PIN in the post and you can log on to the site with this and request a P21 balancing statement and claim for any medical expenses which you might have paid out during 2014, and Revenue will recalculate your 2014 taxes and if you are due a refund you will receive it.

there will be no problems in claim back your 2015 tax at the end of 2015, keep your medical receipts (if any). Every year from on now , do the same thing as it will keep your taxes and up to date.

What is the date of cessation on your p45? If it's 2015, you should have given it to your new employer as the tax year runs January to December. Any overpayment of tax from 2015 should be refunded by your present employer. If it's 2014, then just do as already stated by the other poster to claim any overpayment of tax for 2014.

    I've just checked it's the 10/01/2015.

Would it make a difference that the employee I stopped working for, is now my current employee (just a separate store).

Would it be automatically completed in this instance in my next payment?
