Hi there, moving into a new place that has already has a UPC point on the wall. I've submitted an order online with them this morning, but not sure what happens now. Will they be in touch with me by phone to arrange delivery of the customer equipment? Ideally I would like to get the cable modem delivered to work rather than the new place, and ideally before the weekend.

Here is a timeline of my order last week which might help.

I placed an order as a new customer online on the Thurs 12/2. I rang them up a few hours later and my order was still being processed. They had no information for me and told me to ring back the next day.

Out of the blue I got an email from DPD about a delivery from UPC. Turns out there was a mix-up. As a new customer I needed an engineer to install but they thought I was doing a self-install. DPD delivered the modem on Fri 13/2.

Rang UPC again on the Friday to sort it out. The engineer installed on Mon 16/2.

I am not sure if you will get your modem by tomorrow. Maybe ring them or drop a post to the UPC people on boards 'Talk to...UPC' - they are good at handling queries.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully in my case I won't need an engineer- there is a modern(UPC-branded) cable point already installed.

Actually they were just in touch with me. They need me to submit proof of ID and address(which I can't do until tomorrow when I actually sign the lease) before they proceed. So best case I imagine would be that I do that and they ship out tomorrow afternoon. Don't know if couriers deliver over weekends? Just a pain I guess since I can't really properly move in to the place with no internet, so this will ruins my plans of getting everything done over the weekend:pac:.

I don't think any of the regular courier's deliver on a w/e - not DPD anyways.

For my UPC modem delivery, DPD sent me a text and email informing me of the timeframe (2 hours) when it would be delivered.

DPD delivery on Saturdays, I had a UPC delivery recently on a Saturday.

Yeah, apparently DPD can do it if asked- I'll mention it to UPC hopefully tomorrow and see if they can accommodate me.

Doubt you'll get sorted before Monday tbh.

Even if the point is present your drop may have been disconnected at an external termination point, I know UPC used to do this and may still. In that case you'll need a tech visit or get out a large flathead screwdriver yourself.

No progress - I signed a lease but don't have a copy of it because it needs to be sent to the landlord to sign, then sent back to me, so god knows how long that will take. UPC sent me a text on Saturday reminding me to submit proof of address/identity, still can't do that.

Why do they want such proof anyway? I've already given them bank details, they can direct debit me, so there is no risk to them. I've sent proof of identity and asked them to see if they can waive the address requirement at least.
