Noise after service

Just got a service and timing belt changed today (New water pump also). There is a woshing noise like air spraying when I accelerate now. Sounds like a leaky exhaust but it only happens a second or 2 after I accelerate and continues until I let off. Can't hear it when driving normally, only when I accelerate AFAIK. Any ideas?

    Its a '10 berlingo 1.6 HDI. 130k miles.

Have you checked that the air lines to the air filter were reconnected properly?

Haven't checked anything as yet. Pissing rain and dark and only got it home a few minutes ago. Ticks over fine and no noise when parked revving it though.

Bring it back tomorrow and let them have a listen.

Sounds like a boost leak, probably just a pipe off or leaking on a joint.

As was said already, bring it back.

Definitely an inlet pipe between the turbo and engine. Don't bother checking before the turbo as that has all the signs of a minor boost leak.

Put the foot down and wait a second until the turbo spools. Pressurised air leaks and continues until you release the throttle.

    My 2 cents anyway!

This sounds about right. I really only have a vague knowledge but I suspected turbo as noise takes a second or 2 for noise to start after accelerating.

I'll throw it back to them tomorrow. Thanks for the help folks.

So I brought it back. They looked over it, couldn't find any leaks. They acknowledge the noise but dismissed it as minor and just said keep an eye on it. Boss driving behind me today said its blowing more smoke from exhaust than usual. Dark smoke, not oily. Any ideas? I can only just bring it back again, but I've a feeling I'm wasting my time and just waiting for something to go pop in the near future. None of these problems before getting timing belt and service done.

Does it feel under powered compared to before?

Points even more to a boost leak now.

Black smoke says overfueling to me.
This is because it's not getting the sure it needs to burn the fuel. So some leaves unburnt through the exhaust.

There is a boost leak there somewhere.

you should go back and insist on that problem. I hear that all the time from people and their garages "oh we don't know, nothing major, keep an eye on it".

    ....

Not underpowered or any flat spots in exceleration. Just the smoke and noise. I'll throw it back to them and will push the boost leak idea. At least if anything does go wrong they had good warning.

    Thanks again
