08 Seat Leon Timing Chain

    Hi all,

The engine light came on my 08 Seat Leon a while back and when it was plugged in it showed up as a "camshaft correlation fault". I've been told it needs new chain so I am on here to see if anyone has experienced this before and if so who repaired it. Need pointing in the direction of a top mechanic who has done this job before.

    Hope someone can help! Cheers!

Mod note: just moving this to a forum (Rec > Motoring > Motors) where you will likely get better advice.

Which engine is it? If it's the 1.4 Tsi then timing chain problems are not unheard of with that VAG engine. More common on the 170bhp version than the 122bhp though.

Yes it's the 1.4tsi 125bhp engine. You know anyone up for the job?

Presume it's the same engine as the gold 1.4 TSI 122?

If so, I brought mine to be done in VW blackwater Victorias cross Cork, same symptoms as yours crankshaft/camshaft correlation sensor P00014 or something.

Cost the bones of 1300, VW guarantee for 2 years.

This engine is an absolute joke

What did they do for 1300?

Replace the chain, tensioner, 2 rails and whatever other bit are associated with the replacement.

I'm based In Donabate, Dublin. 1300?!?! Surely it can be done for less than that!

Im in a similar situation myself at the moment.
I priced a tensioner off Audi.
    €680!
I have sourced a set of guides from Germany for €45 delivered.
So im hoping to get away with them and a chain but won't know untill next week:o

I would not bother paying a main dealer to do that job on a 7 year old car. Should be able to get it done by a good indy garage for less.

You can get that job done in an independent garage for about €700.

Make sure the oil pump pickup pipe and turbo oil feed line are changed as part of the job.
