    Hi Guys,

Recently purchased a new house and electricity and gas had been switched off.
We have given details of meter readings etc to gas networks and esb who tells it is up to us to choose our new provider and contact them directly.

We tried a few comparison sites but you need details of bills to get an accurate comparison.

Does anyone have any experience who would be the best to use for a first time consumer?

A good place to start is http://www.bonkers.ie/compare-gas-electricity-prices/dual-fuel/

Take a look and see what kind of discounts/incentives there are for dual fuel. Also you'll need to decide on direct debit or pre pay.

Electric Ireland are doing a deal with the Nest smart thermostat, which I'd probably go for with a new connection.

Then you need to estimate your usage. note that winter usage is likely to be much higher than summer usage.
